Q: Do you want to have a career in photojournalism?

“No no, just for fun. I'd never done anything with it until college. At first I thought maybe I could make it into a career, but then I was like 'Eh.' So I figured I'd just throw myself into it here.”
Q: What do you like in photos?
“I personally really like wide-shot photos, where you get a pretty good picture of what's going on. I don't like to look at a photo and have to guess what's going on, I like to see the whole picture, literally and figuratively.”
Q: Is it ever frustrating to not see favorite pictures from events go in print or go with stories?

“If you were to look in Sports Illustrated or the New York Times, they're just printing really cool pictures... from the photographers perspective, you're thinking 'Oh this is really cool,' but sometimes it's not the right action or player or something, but it makes sense if a writer needs a certain person.”

Q: What are your thoughts on sports photography?

“I think sports photography is really cool, I'd never done that before college, at all. It's become one of my favorites because ... I don't know how to describe it, it's just so fun. Everyone is taking the same picture because on the sideline you're in a row of like ten photographers, but then you see after the game how everyone's pictures vary and how the differences come from where you're running around in the arena at.”

Q: Is there an aspect you really like?
“You get to be so close and I think that's why I love it. And I really admire athletes, especially student athletes because we're the same age and we go to class together, but then they're also doing all of this other stuff.”

Q: Do you have a favorite picture of all time?

“I like  pictures I take of people when I know it captures who they really are. Like I have this picture of my dad and he didn't know I was taking the photo and he was just laughing. I think it really captures him, as a person, and I always think of that one as a favorite.”
